What To Expect
If you’re joining us for the first time, or you haven’t been to church for a while, you might be wondering what to expect when you step inside. We are a very friendly and welcoming church, and someone will always be willing to help if you have any questions or need assistance – you’ll always find a friendly face at the welcome table when you first come in.
Our main services are held on a Sunday. If you’re wondering which one to go for, here’s a short breakdown of each:
- 8.15am BCP Eucharist – This shorter, quiet service is traditional in style, usually using the words of the Book of Common Prayer. The 8.15am service always includes a celebration of the Eucharist (The Lord’s Supper, or Communion). It currently runs on the last Sunday of each month only.
- 10am Sung Eucharist – Our main service which always includes readings from the Bible, singing hymns, a talk or sermon, and the celebration of the Eucharist. On the last Sunday of each month, this is an All Age service where the children are encouraged to take part in leading the worship. On other weeks we have Sunday School which meets in our community room during the service. We love worshipping together as a church family, and are always delighted to meet new people and welcome them to join us. Food is really important at St. Thomas’ church, and every 10am service is followed by a time to chat together as we enjoy tea, coffee, biscuits, and often cake!
